My grandpa’s been through everything. First a cancerous tumor, then a fluid-filled lung, and now a stroke. Through all this, he still remembers my cousins’ and my school schedules, and makes an effort to get better so he can be there for us. I don’t know how he does it, but my grandpa GMH.

A year ago today I was ready to kill myself. It was 2 AM, and I was calling anyone I could think of to say goodbye. Only one person picked up. He kept me on the phone, talking about anything he could think of until I fell asleep. He saved my life that night. He GMH every day.
Today, a girl that I am just starting to get along with, wrote a paragraph on my facebook wall. It said how glad she is to have me as a friend. She has no idea how much she made me smile even though I am depressed. It was the nicest thing someone has ever said about me. A friend like her GMH!
Today I was grading a spanish test my high school students had taken. One of the questions asked to translate a sentence saying “I want to be beautiful so I put on makeup.” The most shy girl in the class wrote next to the quote, “You don’t need makeup to be beautiful =)” I gave her extra points. People like her GMH
Today I was waiting in line to get to class. A mentally challenged boy stepped out of line and let all us girls go first. When we thanked him he said “It’s no problem, I’m a gentleman and that seemed like the right thing to do”. His act made me smile the whole day. He and his thoughtfulness GMH.
Throughout all her high school years by sister was constantly bullied. So much so that she tried to commit suicide, but thankfully failed. Now, three years later, she works for a suicide helpline and spends her days listening to other people’s problems and giving them the strength that she once didn’t have. She GMH
4 years ago my brother walked in on me self- harming, 3 weeks later I moved to my dads, I haven’t heard from my mum since. Every night at 8 I get a call, it’s always my brother asking how my day was. His care GMH
I got my first graduation card, from my grandmother. She suffered a severe stroke 11 years ago, leaving her not able to speak or write well. I saw that she wrote the card. She must have written it in advance because she died two years ago today. Love that crosses the border of life and death GMH.
I go to an all-girls catholic high school. Yesterday a girl in my class got up in front of all the juniors and read a poem about bullying and acceptance. She ended it with “I guess I’m trying to say… I’m bi-sexual.” She received a standing ovation, even from the teachers. Acceptance GMH.
My grandfather passed away yesterday. I found out earlier today. I think he heard my tears from heaven because later today my favorite type of storm (rare) went on for the better half of the evening. Thundersnow. Grandfathers who let you know they are ok even if they are not there anymore GMH!
My best friend got suspended because of an all-out brawl. The reason? He defended our basketball captain against his team. Our basketball captain admitted that he’s gay. Even if it was ten against one, I’m proud of you. Kai, you GMH.
Today I wore no makeup because I was sick. There’s a popular boy who sits near me in one of my classes, and he looked at me and noticed I wasn’t wearing any makeup. When I said I don’t look good without it, he said “You look beautiful without it. You don’t need makeup to look amazing. ” Teenage boys who make girls feel amazing GMH
It was my sister’s 10th birthday yesterday. She had been looking forward to seeing her friends at school. However, school was closed due to the heavy snow. Her 5 best friends walked the 3 miles to our isolated village, in a blizzard, just to sing Happy Birthday under her window. They GMH
Today I was working at the clothes department of our store when a man comes up with a full bag of womens underwear to buy. Everyone behind him seemed disgusted so I asked him whether it was for family. He said that the women’s shelter down the road was short on underwear. He GMH.
